A few months ago, I was getting my bike out of the shed and happened upon a nice leatherback book called Dance- Jack Anderson, 1951. The pictures were so beautiful and drew me right in. I like the vibe of photography books from the 50s and 60s- it seems like the feature pictures are not as sharp, super rich, and almost sterile as the ones today. Which is lucky, because you can find them in pretty much any flea market, or used book store, or ancient library (like that of my high school).
Anyway. There's more where this comes from.

I LOVE the Oprah franchise. Specifically, I love O Magazine. When "The Power Issue" came out a few months ago, I was so inspired. I made it my mission to live with mindfulness, not holding back any of my awesome.
The December issue is called "The Awe Issue", and let me tell ya, O hit it outta the park againnn! When I went to the Phoenix concert (we had great spots), I felt SO charged up. Everything felt new and different. My friends, I think I was AWED. So the December Issue. It tells us that when we look outside ourselves, we are refreshed like nothing else. There was this experiment they did that showed people were more optimistic when they were seated in front of a marvelous t-rex skeleton than a white wall.It reminded me of all the times I felt awed: studying astronomy, walking the stairs of a subway station when it's busy, concerts that I love, MoMA. I love looking at pictures of beautiful clothes because they're AWESOME to me. They're unreal and beautiful, but people wear them just like I wear my favorite belt. It's crazy!

It's funny how every time I say I'm inspired I don't post for like a month. I think I get this thing where I'm on the cusp of something, but I stay at the same level because I have the same skills. I think I'll try to take some photography classes to learn some new things.

For my birthday this week I got the Cannon Rebel T1i! I completely did not see it coming. But, my mom got tired of me stealing her Rebel Xt. So now I feel totally free artisticly!

Lately, I have not had a zest for blogging. Partly, because my closet, I feel like, is exhausted. My choices are very limited, people. And partly because I feel like I'm not exactly the same girl as when I started this blog, circa a year ago. I'm trying to embrace the evolution! But I cringe every time I go back and read all the "darlings" and "beauties", IN SUCCESSION.
So my plan is 1) to go shopping for real- beacuse I have been caught in the trap of blowing all my money on lotion and artwork- and 2) start blogging about my lifestyle, or rather, the most interesting parts of my lifestyle.
New year, new blog!

First up on the list: my passion for Barcelona. I dream of it. Maybe it's beacause of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but everything about it seems beautiful and interesting.

Oh, goodness. I can't believe how long I've been detached from the blogosphere! Life sure does get in the way.

During my travels, I picked up Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady by Derek Blasberg, a book I've been wanting for a while.

Let me just say, it has changed my life!

It's so hilarious and incredibly charming. It answers all my questions about what an interesting and fun yet respectable woman is like. You should really read it!

I am infinitely regretful for my posting habits of late... from when I got back from New York to the final week of school was completely crazy. Prom, finals, term papers, ahhh! I made it, though. Yay.

It's hotter than a manicotti right now (Julie & Julia, anyone?), so I like to wear as little clothes as possible. Though I feel like I've thickened up a bit, probably thanks to this. Uhh.

I see these as a slightly edgy, punk take on 40's boyish glamour. Reallllly love the hair and model! (Can't find her name, though.)

A recent jaunt to Sephora went like this:
Makeup Artist: What can I help you find?
The Bambina: I love red lipstick. A bright blue-red would be nice!
MA: *shock* Uh, RED LIPSTICK?!! YOU?!! It's so... can I say it?
The Bambina: Say it, say it!
MA: Red lipstick. It's outdated! It's for 45 year-old women who want to look sexy! It completely overwhlems you! Let's find you a nice pink.

I ended up loving this burgundy Benetint, but I'm pretty sure I'll still wear my red lips. Add "nonconformist" to list of things they make me feel like!

Rabbit Belt!!!

After an acedemically rigorous couple of weeks, I am back to posting. Ahh, it feels nice.

Sarah at J. Crew (who is a genius) told me that this caramel cord skirt would "flatter my figure" when I bought it last fall. I can't help but agree with her!

I have gotten really into wearing red lips on a daily basis. It feels really individual and unique. Also, it looks no doubt fabulous.

This weekend my best friend and I sat down with a gargantuan stack of magazines to do some serious collaging.

This one of mine was originally inspired by polka dots, and then became a search for a girl with natural beauty, who gives a vibe of inner freshness and vitality. She has a few best friends who she spends her days with, and she cares about what she wears, but doesn't have a glamorous style. A Sunday morning in a clawfoot bathtub followed by coffee at a cafe is her thing. You know who I'm talkin' bout?

Anyway, I hope you all are having a lovely week. Tonight I am making contraptions to hold an egg while it drops off a building.

I love beliting my stretchy, flowy, pink cardi with the leather and metal rabbit belt. It feels so right!

Isn't this editorial gorgeous? I've loved the Miu Miu prints since the minute I saw them, and they get taken to a different level with all the unique detailing and interesting pastels!

I love the shape of those collars! They remind me of this really sad movie that I watched about World War II, but nonetheless, the military attire had GREAT, looong collar points. I think that is the most unique statement written about Miu Miu all season! Yay for The Bambina!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a very long time! I have been caught up with school work and my research paper. Delightful!

Also, probably my favorite collection to date, Lanvin S/S '10. I don't even know what entrances me so much, but I know I love the cuts, drapes, textures, and colors. Especially of these two looks, the tailored, and the ethereal. I love the shoulders of both, and the sleeves of the dress are so refreshing. All in the same show! And that doesn't even take into account the crystallized, shiny sparkly of the last third! Pure love.

These pictures were obviously taken before a cold front from the frigid tundra decided to wreak its havoc on Florida. I have lived all week in my only warm clothes and am getting a little tired of it.

For Christmas, I got the Ocean Rock Ring from Anthropologie!! I can sure tell you that I AM IN LOVE. It's sparkly, has a beautiful shape, and is nearly the size of my forefinger! All I can say is that it's my new favorite thing.

LOVE. THESE. SHORTS. the color, the pattern...

Looking through SS '10 shows I found myself infatuated with Dries Van Noten.
I love how exotic the colors and prints(polka dots- ahhhh) are, but the tailoring and draping (the effortless loosenes? THE SIXTH LOOK'S BLOUSE.) and styling (example: how the navy tunic in the fifth look fits perfectly with the dissipated navy in the print of the pant) look so pulled-together and perfect.

My eyes just cry of amazement when I look!

Also, I love the novel necklaces! I like the jumble of pearls look, but the little geometric shape just adds so much character and interest. The appeal!

The sun-shielders also have a beautiful shape which I love.

I believe this is the direction in which I would like my style to go. At least, my accessories to go. It's just so beautiful.

Tomorrow I am leaving on a great ship! I will cruise through the ocean and hopefully come out with some great pictures. I bought a new bathing suit, which has filled me with excitement.

I found this mallard button-down(Lord & Taylor) and red belt at a fun little rummage sale. There was another plaid button down by Lord & Taylor, but the ducks were flying and hunters were shooting and the shirt was blood red! So, being me, I went with this one.

This past weekend was very busy but fun, filled with fall festivals and best friend time. On a scale of 1 to 10, how fabulous was your weekend?

I have just began to get into oxfords and have recently found some beautiful ones.

How fabulous are these from Anthropologie? Probably my favorites of the bunch, they can be dressed up or down beautifully.

These Alex Wangs are genius. The heel is so alluring and intersting, I just love them.

You could either love or hate these ones from Paul Smith, but I think they're fun little beauties.

Belts, The Beautiful Kind

I was scouring Anthropologie today, and besides being completely amazed by their whole collection of whimsical Winter wares, I found some no doubt fabulous belts.
I wear belts quite often, to cinch a dress or to pull togehter an outfit with jeans. Also, sometimes I get stuck in a basics rut, where I wear all tailored, preppy stuff and just get bored. Fun, unique accesories can inspire me from time to time.

This one is so pretty and eccentric- it has that New Mexico feel to me, and I love the distressed white leather. (Maybe this could be found in that painting I posted a while ago?) It's so versatile, I can see myself wearing it in summer and winter.

Ahhh. This belt is just so cute, no? The metal on leather and gorgeous carving are so pleasing to the eye. Who wouldn't want a hare cinched around her waist?

Lastly, this belt just makes me want to run through an evergreen forest singing songs of yuletide. In a full skirt, no less. Enough said.

Are you a belting bambina like me?

On a side note, over the weekend I got to drive my dad's convertible in this beautious weather and it felt so joyous. He said, "A teenager driving a convertible on a lazy Sunday... you only have a few more years left of this and then 70 years of NOT being this- relish it!"
Now, though I am really excited to grow up and embark on my adventures, and discover my style, and all those things, I LOVE being a Bambina right now. The spirit is so free and exciting and the possibilities are endless and beautiful!

I was inspired by this from the Urban Outfitters Fall Catalog:

I can't get over the lushness and beauty that is my J.Crew shirt. Love the sheen, the fact that it's not quite denim. It's like your boyfriend's denim button down, but your boyfriend happens to be a Greek god.
The dress is too short, I know, but I couldn't resist wearing it.
And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these tights. Today in the supermarket a lady came up to me and said, "I love textured nylons, those are SO up my alley!" I've never been complimented by a stranger before, so that was quite fun.

We're learning about the Indian Removal Act in American Studies right now, and I couldn't help but love this picture I saw in my textbook.

I love the colors against the dark stormy sky. And tribal prints for spring! I especially love the guy in the foreground on the dark grey horse: so many stripes, and awesome earrings!

Their travels kind of remind me of the DVF mantra from a few seasons ago: "Wherever she goes, she belongs." If any Native American girl wore this kind of dress and had confindence to match, I'm sure she could "make it work" anywhere. I wanna be like that!

I have come to realize that lace + classic structure = feast for the eyes. Contrast is so visually appealing, no? It's the textures, the balance between the two.

A few looks from Christian Dior Spring '09 RTW that convinced me of this. Such a feast for the eyes! The idea, combined with the red lips and hair evokes that '40s glamour, that powerful femininity. It's no doubt fabulous.

I saw the same concept at Stella McCartney, but the vibe was different. It was insouciance, feminine and pulled together, yet carefree. The lace was paired with classic pleated chinos and khaki boyish wonders instead of strikingly glamorous black.

(Plus, you gotta love Karlie.)
